Gaslight Condos

Gaslight Condos

50 Grand Ave S, Cambridge

Project overview

Completed in October 2021, the Gaslight District development in downtown Galt is a striking blend of historic charm and modern design, located just steps from the Grand River. Construction began in February 2021 and included a five-storey parking garage, 30,000 square feet of amenity space, and impressive balcony views. From a precast perspective, the garage posed the greatest challenge, requiring massive four-foot-deep precast beams to support a sixteen-storey tower above the drive lane. Sloped drives and parking levels were formed with 10″ and 12″ hollowcore slabs. To maximize open balcony space and clean architectural lines, Stubbe’s Precast incorporated structural wing walls that both support the slabs and conceal vertical joints. This project reflects the collaborative effort to integrate robust precast solutions into a historic downtown setting—delivering a fresh, modern landmark that still respects the character of its surroundings.

Located in downtown Galt, Cambridge, the Gaslight District development features a five-storey parking garage topped by a 16-storey residential tower. Construction began in February 2021 and was completed in October of the same year. Stubbe’s Precast supplied and installed critical structural elements, including four-foot-deep precast concrete beams spanning the drive lane to support the tower above. The sloped drive ramps and parking levels were built using 10″ and 12″ precast hollowcore slabs. Balconies were designed with precast wing walls to create open, unobstructed outdoor space while cleverly concealing vertical joints to meet architectural requirements. With over 30,000 square feet of amenity space and thoughtfully integrated precast elements, the building brings a fresh, modern presence to the historic core of downtown Galt.
