Located in the heart of downtown Hamilton, the historic Royal Connaught Hotel is being transformed into a luxury condominium through a major, multi-phase renovation. The redevelopment includes the addition of a new 14-storey tower with four levels of precast parking garage, designed to complement the original architecture. Stubbe’s Precast played a key role in the transformation by supplying a full range of total precast components—including wall panels, balconies, stairs, landings, hollowcore slabs, beams, and columns—used both in the new construction and in strategic upgrades to the existing structure.

This project showcases how total precast construction can integrate seamlessly with historic architecture. Through innovative form liners, adaptive reuse of façade materials, and a wide range of precast components, Stubbe’s helped transform the iconic Royal Connaught Hotel into a modern luxury residence while preserving its legacy in downtown Hamilton.

Owned by Royal Connaught Inc. and completed in 2016, this landmark Hamilton redevelopment involved both restoration and new construction. Stubbe’s Precast supplied total precast components for a new 14-storey tower with four levels of parking garage, as well as a penthouse added atop the original structure. Precast wall panels were designed with brick and stone form liners to match the original building, while some sections of precast were clad with salvaged façade materials for continuity at street level. Stubbe’s also provided balconies, hollowcore slabs, beams, columns, stairs, and landings, with some precast used to re-clad existing portions of the structure—delivering a consistent and elegant finish across the entire development.
